Lisa + James decided to get married in secret at Balbirnie House Hotel one Wednesday afternoon last summer. Their families and friends thought they were away celebrating James' Birthday and Lisa even tried to throw everyone off the scent (as a few friends joked they were eloping) by checking them in on Facebook at a restaurant in St Andrews. With the whole wedding being hush hush, Lisa + James asked two members of the Balbirnie wedding team - the lovely Sarah + Leah - to be their witnesses at their gorgeous private ceremony in the Garden Room.
I had such a great time photographing their wedding as it was so relaxed and chilled - exactly how Lisa and James wanted it to be. The pair wandered around the house and gardens at a leisurely pace with drinks in hand and sunglasses on for some photographs and then finished their celebrations off by having a private romantic meal for two, celebrating into the wee hours.
Fast forward three days and Lisa + James were getting ready to surprise their families and friends at The Boathouse in Kinross for their 'engagement party'. Lisa, James and their daughter Heidi (who was very upset at being kept in the dark about the whole wedding haha) were ready at the shore side further up the Loch to jump in a boat and arrive in style to greet their shocked guests.
There were tears and massive cheers when the trio pulled up to The Boathouse with everyone in disbelief - an amazing arrival! With the guests still recovering from the shock of the news from the newlyweds, Lisa + James had one more surprise up their sleeve...
The couple had secretly flown Lisa's brother and partner all the way across from Australia to surprise Lisa's parents and guests. Check out the photographs capturing the reactions - magical stuff!
